Pelangai BN candidate: Observing the weather

Bentong: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam is confident that the participation of former Umno member Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli, who is running as an Independent candidate in the upcoming Pelangai by-election, will not jeopardize his chances of winning the seat.

Amizar stated that, so far, he has observed that the voters in the area are more inclined towards BN compared to other candidates.

“Insha-Allah, I am not threatened. We live in a democratic country, and we do not hinder anyone from contesting. Feel free to contest here; we provide opportunities for everyone,” he said to reporters after engaging with voters at the Felda Chemomoi night market, accompanied by Umno Executive Secretary Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.

The PRK Pelangai by-election, which will take place on October 7, will witness a three-cornered fight between Amizar, Haslihelmy, and Kasim Samat, who represents Perikatan Nasional.

Yesterday, Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that Haslihelmy’s membership in the party automatically ceased after contesting in the Pelangai by-election.

When asked about campaign plans to approach voters, Amizar, who is also a member of the Umno Bentong Committee, mentioned that in the initial stages, he chose to meet and provide explanations to the party machinery.

“In the early phase, we meet our machinery, our members, ensure there is a plan, they understand it, and only then can we think about victory,” he said.
